Audiologist
Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary research staff. Independently provides research audiological services in hearing research using human subjects. Manages multiple aspects of research endeavors in the assigned research laboratory.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
- Performs a wide range of routine and advanced audiological tests, as necessary, to determine hearing status.
- Participates in special projects, and/or research studies using human research testing protocols.
- Supervises the work of other audiologists or students as assigned by the Laboratory Coordinator.
- Recruits subjects for participation in approved research projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to apply knowledge of hearing disorders to determine hearing status via a variety of audiological, psychoacoustic, and/or physiological tests
- Knowledgeable of local, regional, and national regulations related to the use of humans as research subjects, including, but limited to subject/patient confidentiality procedures in accordance with HIPAA.
- Ability to follow human subjects procedures and obtain informed consent from subjects.
- In cooperation with the IRB and with the Coordinator of the HRSC, perform regular quality assurance assessments of the consent process.
- Ability to follow a research protocol under the direction of the principal investigator of the research project.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to operate research and clinical equipment, software, and other specialized devices necessary for the conduct of research.
- Should have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Assists with data analysis, the development of tables and figures, and manuscript preparation as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's or AUD degree in audiology from an ETB accredited university required.
- Minimum of one year of practical experience in the area of audiology required.
- Knowledge and understanding of hearing disorders and of normal hearing function for subjects of all ages required.
- Have or be eligible for appropriate state licensing required.
- Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
