Participants will work alongside actuarial professionals, gain exposure to the healthcare business, and strengthen the analytical, communication, and business skills needed for a future career in actuarial science.Program DetailsLocation: Louisville, Kentucky; housing stipend providedDuration: May 24 – August 13, 2027Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through FridayEligibility: Open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programsKey Responsibilities:Collect, validate, and analyze data related to product development, pricing, reserving, financial reporting, and other actuarial functionsSupport the preparation and review of experience reports, rate analyses, and other actuarial deliverablesIdentify trends, evaluate results, and develop recommendations based on data insightsClearly document analyses, assumptions, data sources, and findings for business stakeholdersCollaborate with actuarial teams and business partners to support enterprise-wide initiatives related to growth, profitability, affordability, and risk managementParticipate in onboarding, professional development activities, networking events, and engagement opportunitiesPresent project work, findings, and recommendations to team members and leadersRequired QualificationsCurrent full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related fieldMust be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from May 24 – August 13, 2027Must be able to work in-person in Louisville, Kentucky for the duration of the internshipMust not require sponsorship to work in the United States now or in the futureDemonstrated interest in pursuing a career as an actuaryPreferred QualificationsMinimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scaleStrong analytical aptitude with experience or coursework involving data analysis, spreadsheets, statistical concepts, programming, or business analysisCompletion of multiple Society of Actuaries examsSuccessful completion of and/or scheduled to sit for at least one Society of Actuaries examPrior internship, work, research, or project experience in an actuarial, analytical, mathematical, statistical, financial, or related roleDemonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, work, or volunteer rolesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively in cross-functional teams and independentlyStrong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learnInternship Program Highlights:Interns can expect a well-rounded 12-week experience designed to build actuarial knowledge, business understanding, professional skills, and connections across Humana.
