Assistant City Manager

Assistant City Manager: Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Assistant City Manager assists in planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating municipal operations and services. The position provides executive oversight of assigned departments, leads strategic initiatives, manages special projects, supports policy development, and serves as acting City Manager in the City Manager's absence. The Assistant City Manager serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and works closely with department directors, elected officials, community stakeholders, regional agencies, and the public to ensure efficient, responsive, and accountable municipal government. Description of Duties / Essential Functions Executive Leadership Assist the City Manager in the administration and operation of municipal government. Provide executive oversight and performance management of assigned departments and divisions. Coordinate interdepartmental activities to ensure efficient delivery of city services. Serve as Acting City Manager when designated. Advise the City Manager on operational, organizational, and policy matters. Strategic Planning and Policy Assist in development and implementation of City Council goals and strategic priorities. Conduct research and analysis of complex municipal issues. Prepare recommendations, reports, ordinances, resolutions, and policy proposals. Monitor legislative and regulatory issues affecting municipal operations. Support long‑range planning initiatives and organizational improvement efforts. Budget and Financial Management Assist in preparation and administration of the annual operating and capital budgets.
