Position Overview

The Surgical Technician plays an essential role in supporting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. This position is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, organizing surgical instruments and supplies, and providing hands-on support to surgeons and other members of the perioperative team.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures. 
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures. 
• Assist the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed. 
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures. 
• Assist with surgical setup, room turnover, and post-procedure breakdown. 
• Ensure surgical trays and equipment are properly handled, cleaned, and prepared for subsequent cases. 
• Follow established infection-control and patient-safety practices. 
• Maintain an organized and efficient operating-room environment. 
• Monitor surgical supplies and communicate inventory needs to appropriate personnel. 
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other clinical staff. 
• Support efficient patient flow and timely room turnover. 
• Promptly report equipment, supply, safety, or environmental concerns. 

✅ Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent applicable training. 
• Current Surgical Technician certification/credential, as required by the facility or applicable regulations. 
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques. 
• Understanding of infection-control and patient-safety practices. 
• Ability to remain focused and organized in a fast-paced surgical environment. 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
• Ability to respond appropriately to changing surgical needs. 

⭐ Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or operating-room environment. 
• Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties. 
• Familiarity with surgical tray setup and turnover. 
• Experience with surgical supply inventory and equipment management. 
• Strong understanding of operating-room workflows. 
• Experience working collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative staff.
