As a Maintenance Mechanic at Norlen, part of Ryerson family of companies, you are responsible for a wide range of activities in the area of overall plant and facilities maintenance. The position requires the ability to be flexible, self-directed and have an understanding of production requirements in a service orientated company. The main focus of the position is to keep the production and material handling equipment safely maintained to maximize efficiency, ensure a safe operation and ensure on time delivery of product. Assistance with capital project/new equipment planning, dealing with vendors for parts and services are also a requirement.Roles and Responsibilities:Always works in a safe and efficient mannerRepairs and maintains plant equipment in an efficient manner on a daily basisCreates and utilizes preventive maintenance program and keeps files up-to-dateHelps to eliminate machine downtimeCoordinates outside maintenance services as requiredOrders parts as required to keep equipment operating in a safe/efficient basisFollows all Company ISO policies and proceduresKeeps work areas clean and organizedAll other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without noticeRequirements:High School Diploma or GED required1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably steel processingWorking knowledge of electricity, welding & burning, hydraulic repairPLC knowledge and understandingMachine repair, crane repair, preventive maintenance programsMust be able to read blueprints and also order parts and suppliesPhysical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobilitySuccessful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboardingWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation or preference, and pregnancy), age, national origin, religion, disability or genetic information, marital status, status as a veteran, or any other federal, state or local protected class or artificial barrier.
