Specialty Department Assistant Manager

The Assistant Specialty Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the Specialty Departments (cheese/bread, housewares, and beer/wine) in partnership with the Specialty Department Manager. This role assists with department tasks, staff support, merchandising, guest service, and maintaining company standards and regulatory compliance. They help keep the departments organized, well-stocked, and operating efficiently while providing a welcoming experience for guests. The Assistant Specialty Manager works closely with the Specialty Department Manager to coordinate department priorities and complete operational tasks, including inventory management, ordering, vendor coordination, merchandising, and other department needs. They assist with monitoring inventory and back stock, supporting sales and financial goals, and providing guidance and support to department staff as needed. They lead by example and help create an efficient, collaborative, and guest‑focused department. Location 3065 Route 50, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 Job Type Assistant Department Manager Schedule Full‑Time, flexible scheduling, weekend and holiday availability required Pay Starting at $23.00-27.63 /hour (Previous experience will be taken into consideration) Requirements At least 1 year of supervisory, leadership, or relevant team experience At least 2 years’ experience working with cheese, wine, beer, bread, housewares, and/or related specialty products, preferably in a retail environment Experience supporting inventory management, ordering, or other department operations Experience working with local products is preferred Key Responsibilities Assist with scheduling, timecard review, staffing needs, and day‑to‑day employee concerns as needed Work with the Specialty Department Manager and store leadership to support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development Assist with inventory management, replenishment ordering, cycle counts, shrink reporting, credits, and purchase order maintenance across assigned areas Support vendor relationships, new item coordination, demos, seasonal ordering, and communication of product performance, trends, and guest feedback Help maintain merchandising standards through accurate shelf tags, signage, product presentation, cross‑merchandising, promotional displays, and well‑stocked sales floor and backstock areas Work with the Specialty Department Manager to identify inventory, merchandising, and product needs and assist with related tasks Support the daily operation of the department by helping maintain a clean, organized, safe, and well‑stocked environment Provide outstanding guest service through product knowledge, special orders, and sales floor support Assist with monthly promotions, merchandising initiatives, and department operations during peak business periods Work closely with the Specialty Department Manager and store leadership to support department priorities, sales goals, and operational needs while following company standards and regulatory requirements Step in to assist with department tasks and priorities as needed to support a smooth and successful operation.
