Title: Criminal Justice - Adjunct Instructor Agency: Paul D. Camp Community College Location: Franklin (City) - 620 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: $793 per credit hour - Minimum Salary Full Time or Part Time: Part Time Responsibilities Teaching: Creating a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject. Teaching encompasses four components: Instructional Design, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise. Scholarly and Creative Engagement: Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, professional organizations participation, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity. Institutional Responsibility: Performing assigned or presumed duties according to one's role at the college. These activities support and advance the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. Responsibilities include participation in the college's development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participation in required department, committee and college meetings; adherence to college and VCCS policies; performance of assigned duties; and maintenance of a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff. Service: Quality participation and commitment to students, college and/or community organizations, with an expectation of activities as a professional educator. Activities in this domain include college representation, college citizenship, and community development. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Criminal Justice or a related field. Ability to design and implement curricula that align elements of student learning to the student’s educational goals. Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies. Knowledge of methods to effectively teach Criminal Justice through various means of distance learning. Ability to learn and use various technologies for communication, organization of data and course materials, presentations, etc. Ability to use formative and summative assessment measures to evaluate and enhance student learning. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing for group or one-on-one settings. Commitment to stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the discipline. Additional Considerations Teaching experience. Community college or four-year college teaching experience. Experience with alternative delivery methods to include online delivery, hybrid and hyflex course options, content software web-enhancements, etc. Knowledge of academic advising.
