Job Title Staff Nurse – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Department & Location University Hospital, 10 South – Medical ICU (0870) Job Description Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed toward achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost‑effective care. Position Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Minimum Education Required 2‑Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in nursing. Additional Education Desired Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in nursing. Required Qualifications Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit. Experience in relevant care setting preferred. Additional Information 30 Beds – 10 North 30 Beds – 10 South Schedule Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 per week Background Check Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. Patient Population & Training Our dynamic MICU’s serve as sister units co‑located on the same floor, including pulmonology intensivists, critical care attendings, and specially trained nurses, providing unparalleled care. Our patient population spans multisystem organ failure, pre‑solid organ transplant, and post‑cardiac arrest care, providing a high‑acuity environment with meaningful opportunities for growth and skill development. You’ll receive robust onboarding and hands‑on training to manage complex therapies such as MTP and CRRT.
