Meteorologist

Job Summary/Description: WBAY is seeking a full-time Meteorologist to deliver clear, compelling forecasts on‑air and across digital platforms. This role anchors weather coverage live during weekend evening and weekday midday newscasts, while also creating timely content for streaming, web, and social audiences. This is an hourly position offering a competitive salary and a full benefits package. Duties & Responsibilities Present live weathercast during weekend evening and weekday midday newscasts Produce forecasts and breaking‑weather updates for streaming and digital platforms Create engaging weather content for web, app, and social (short videos, explainers, alerts) Collaborate with the newsroom to support severe weather and wall‑to‑wall coverage What we’re looking for On‑air forecasting experience with strong communication skills Comfort delivering weather updates in a fast, live environment Experience or strong interest in digital‑first and streaming storytelling Familiarity with common broadcast/digital weather tools and social publishing workflows Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in meteorology, broadcast meteorology, or atmospheric sciences Experience using The Weather Company (WSI) Max computer system Experience using the Baron Lynx is a plus Minimum of 2 years of TV weather experience, although WBAY will consider strong recent graduates Ability to obtain an AMS/CBM or NWA broadcast seal is also a plus Additional Information Gray Media provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
