SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR

Special Investigator (Non-Peace Officer) Department: Department of Resources Recycling & Recovery (CalRecycle) Salary: $5,528.00 - $9,037.00 per month Positions: 2 Work Location: Hybrid telework Responsibilities Under the direction of the Supervising Special Investigator I, the Special Investigator will plan, organize and conduct routine, difficult, and complex administrative investigations of individuals or business entities suspected of violations of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act and the California Code of Regulations Title 14, Division 2, Chapter 5. Investigations include interviewing and gathering evidence, preparing detailed reports, and interacting with federal, state and local enforcement agencies. Requirements Valid California driver’s license. Ability to travel up to 75% of the year, including driving, commercial flights, public transportation, overnight stays and irregular hours. Experience conducting investigations and interviews, and ability to prepare clear written reports. Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software. No peace officer authority; does not perform peace officer responsibilities. Eligible for hybrid telework for California residents meeting eligibility criteria under Government Code 14200. Desirable Qualifications Bilingual. Experience coordinating with federal, state, and local enforcement agencies. Ability to interpret laws and regulations to specific situations. Effective communication in writing and verbally. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) or comparable software.
