Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of ER experience - Travel experience preferred Description: The unit has 14 treatment areas with plans to expand. On average, the unit sees 75 patients per day, but the number can reach up to 140. Nurses must complete a 15-minute proctored exam during orientation to assess basic EKG competency. Ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Nurses will read and interpret cardiac strips. There are no designated monitor techs; unit clerks assist with this role. Registered Nurses are not allowed to draw labs. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. The hospital has 12-hour shifts covering multiple times, including nights. Every other weekend is required for scheduling. Holiday rotations will occur with core staff. Scrub color is navy. Common diagnoses include pediatric cases, strokes, orthopedic issues, abdominal pain, and trauma stabilization, which is transferred as necessary. Floating to another ER may be required. Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts. Certifications preferred include TNCC, but not required. There is no labor and delivery, pediatric, or NICU unit in the facility. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.
