Senior Network Development Engineer, GCNA

The AWS Networking organization is hiring, and we’re looking for talented Network Development Engineers (NDE) to join our team. Within Networking, we’re confronting and solving complex and high-stake challenges. Our teams support all aspects of connectivity to/from Amazon and the outside world, as well as the connectivity between Amazon’s data centers and services. As a member of one our network engineering teams, you will play a part in designing and architecting networks that simply cannot fail, must scale infinitely, and can never constrain growth or innovation. This opportunity sits within our Border Network Engineering organization where the team is responsible for designing the networks connecting Amazon directly to the outside world (including the Internet, peers, and external customers), evolving the global backbone that interconnects our Regions as well as partnering with our internal customers. Engineers in this organization define routing policy, design and implement Traffic Engineering solutions, as well as architect the hardware platforms and network design to support internal and external connectivity. We move terabits of traffic in and out of our networks each day and are responsible for the ingress and egress points of traffic entering and leaving Amazon as well as the entirety of all internal and customer traffic that rides our global backbone. Engineers on this team make day-to-day and strategic decisions that carry a significant amount of responsibility and impact. AISAWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.Key job responsibilities• Design network topologies, architectures, and services that address diverse technical and business requirements• Contribute materially to team roadmaps by listening to both internal and external customers as well as team feedback• Collaborate with leadership to prioritize and select projects that best support the team's mission• Design proactively ahead of customer and technology needs, anticipating and solving problems before they occur• Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) documents for network solutions and infrastructure projects• Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps and strategic direction• Construct, test, and validate network solutions to ensure reliability and performance standards• Provide technical support and guidance to deployment and operations teams implementing your designs• Serve as a technical escalation point for operations teams, offering expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution• Scope and deliver complex network solutions with appropriate resources and timelinesA day in the lifeYour day will be a dynamic blend of strategic design, collaborative problem-solving, and technical innovation.
