Child and Youth Program Assistant CY-01/02.

Responsibilities Provide developmental care and instruction for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Supervise and account for whereabouts and safety of children/youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events. Assist in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials covering group and individual activities. Arrange for or serve appropriate snacks or meals. Identify and respond to emergency situations (evacuations, illness, and physical/emotional needs). Conditions of Employment Direct deposit and Social Security Card required. Minimum age 18 at time of appointment. Probationary period may apply. Complete employment verification (E-Verify). Background checks required; position involves regular contact with children Immunization requirements: influenza vaccine and other communicable disease immunizations per ACIP. Pass pre‑employment and subsequent physical examinations; be free from communicable disease. Physical ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, stand routinely. Visual and auditory capabilities for supervision. Mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse/neglect. Complete required DoW and Service training, maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. May work evenings, weekends, holidays; duties may include indoor/outdoor field trips. Qualifications Entry Level (CY-01) At least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Effective English communication (oral & written). Skill Level (CY-01) Same as Entry Level. Minimum 6 months experience in group programs with children/youth. Completion of Entry Level DoW standardized training or equivalent industry training, or 6 semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary, secondary education, child/youth development, or special education. Target Level (CY-02) Same as Entry Level. Minimum 12 months experience in group programs with children/youth and demonstrated knowledge of theories/principles of child/youth development. Completion of Skill Level DoW standard training or Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School‑Age (MSA) Credential or 12 semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary, secondary education, child/youth development, special education, human development, youth program administration, recreation (children & youth), physical education, or related behavioral sciences (developmental psychology, child psychology/sociology for the family). General psychology/sociology coursework not qualifying. Benefits and Allowances Sunday premium pay and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
