Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Nashville, Tennessee.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 14, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring TN or compact RN licensure and BLS/NIHSS certification.Details\n \n 36-bed Med/Surg unit with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5\n Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM\n Requires 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week block\n Unit staffed with daily secretary support and PRN techs\n Uses Meditech for documentation\n Utilizes PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps\n Floating expected to support core staffing needs\n Requirements\n \n Active TN or compact RN license required\n BLS and NIHSS certifications required\n Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required\n Skilled in basic patient assessments and care for wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures\n Experience with dialysis and PCA pumps preferred, with Heparin as the only drip administered on the unit\n Comfortable managing post-op care for amputations, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs\n US SSN and DOB required for consideration\n No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months\n Additional Information\n \n Provide bedside shift reporting and conduct safety checks every 1-2 hours with an emphasis on communication and responsiveness\n Follow HAI prevention protocols including CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions\n Adhere to fall prevention guidelines and 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances\n Scrub colors accepted include navy, blue, white, black, gray, and ceil blue\n Supportive charge nurses and leadership provide smooth onboarding for new team members\n Travelers are treated as core staff with equal accountability and recognition\n Team culture is described as collaborative and motivated to enhance patient outcomes\n Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-749534.
