As NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States.We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join Barrios, a teammate company for the Space Exploration Projects with the JETSII contract!ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Design Engineer - Space Exploration Projects will:Support NASA's future space exploration activitiesWork in a team environment to analyze requirements and develop design solutionsDesign, develop, test, analyze, and implement technical products and systemsPerform engineering design evaluationsProduce engineering drawings conforming to applicable standardsPerform dimensional tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&TPerform functional, structural and thermal analyses as requiredSupport design with hand calculations for fit, function, strength and thermal responsePrepare and present at various design reviewsProduce other design documentation as requiredPerform other reporting duties as requiredQualificationsRequired Education/Experience/Skills:Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, plus five (5) years of related experience. License and certification may be required.Experience designing parts and assemblies using 3D CAD modeling softwareExperience producing drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5Experience applying tolerance analyses, including thermal effects and GD&TExperience with machine shop processes and rapid prototyping (3D printing)Experience with both structural and thermal analysis of parts and assembliesExcellent oral, written and presentation communication skillsPreferences:Prior NASA (especially JSC) or aerospace development & manufacturing experienceFamiliarity with JSC Engineering Drawing System Manual (JPR 8500)Familiarity with JSC Fabrication Tolerances and Practices (SKZ36103755)Experience designing NASA flight hardware and creating drawings for NASA/JSCMechanisms or robotics design experienceExperience using PTC CREO or Pro/Engineer and related extensions such as Cabling, Piping, Sheetmetal and SimulationExperience leading technical design teams and mentoring junior engineersNASA or aerospace mechanical design experienceEssential Requirements:Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Work may involve sitting for extended periods.May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.Don't miss out on this great opportunity; for immediate consideration, apply now!
