Freelance Associate Men's Sweater Designer

We are looking for a Freelance Associate Designer, Men's Sweaters with a top fashion brand in NYC. The Men's Sweater Designer is responsible for supporting the design and development of the Men's Sweater category across seasonal collections. This role combines creative design, trend awareness, and technical product knowledge to create commercially relevant products that align with the brands DNA while meeting business objectives.

• 1 month duration
• Hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
• Pay rate: $28.57 - $35.71

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop seasonal Men's Sweater collections, including fashion, core, and key item programs.
• Research and interpret market, consumer, and cultural trends to create relevant product concepts.
• Develop seasonal color, yarn, stitch, silhouette, and trim direction within established design frameworks.
• Create sketches, technical flats, and detailed design packages for product development and vendor communication.
• Partner closely with Head of Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Sourcing, and Technical Design throughout the product creation process.
• Participate in seasonal concept development, trend research, competitive shopping, and inspiration gathering.
• Review prototypes, samples, and fittings, providing clear feedback to ensure design intent and quality standards are achieved.
• Support seasonal presentations, line reviews, and cross-functional meetings.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience designing knitwear or sweaters within a fashion or lifestyle brand.
• Strong understanding of yarns, gauges, stitch structures, sweater construction, and knit techniques.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong sketching, color, trend, and product development skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
