The Essentials: Schedule: 0.9 FTE / 2- 8 hour shifts/2-10 hour shifts | Minimal On-Call Requirement | Location: Fairlawn, OH Hospital 3557 Embassy Pkwy | On-Site Specialties: Operating Room, First Assisting, Orthopaedics, Plastics Responsibilities The Registered Nurse First Assistant is responsible through nursing processes for providing and coordinating nursing care and resource management for patients and families in the operating room. Support the patient care team by performing various multifunctional patient care duties. Under the direct supervision and direction of the operating surgeon, the RNFA functions during the assisting phase of the role until the conclusion of the operative procedure. Provides hemostasis by independently applying electrocautery and instrumentation directly to tissue or by suturing, application of tie ligatures and clips. Provides site exposure of relevant areas through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning and sponging techniques. Assists by handling tissue in dissection and suturing utilizing appropriate instrumentation during operative procedure. Performs wound closure of peritoneum, fascia, subcutaneous tissue and skin. Qualifications Graduate of a school of Nursing. Completion of an accredited course in RN First Assisting required. Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in field or profession preferred. Current license to practice as registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Current CNOR certification required.
