Job Details Job Location: North Street - Buffalo, NY 14203 Position Type: Full Time, 12 Month Salary Range: $23.20 - $29.00 Hourly Job Summary The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for HR responsibilities including recruitment/staffing, new hire orientation, performance management, benefits administration and corporate compliance. In addition the HR Generalist is responsible for general staff communication, daily employee relations activities with staff and the updating and maintenance of employee records. Essential Functions Conduct new hire orientation and other necessary training. Present new hire orientation biweekly for all newly hired staff. Maintain the schedule and modules for new hire orientation, ensuring the appropriate managers are aware of new hire orientation. Proactively recruit for positions and manage the hiring process. Oversee all open positions on the recruitment system daily. Ensure managers have appropriate access to candidates for review. Update candidate status and take notes for ongoing history tracking. Ensure positions are posted externally where appropriate, and attend job fairs as necessary. Hold meetings with hiring managers to establish future hiring needs. Make salary quotes and employment offers to move new hires through onboarding. Administer the agency performance management system to ensure timely completion of evaluations. Maintain the electronic performance management system and run appropriate reports. Edit and add evaluations as needed. Ensure job descriptions and behavioral competencies are updated. Maintain all performance warnings and upload them into Paycom. Stay abreast of current labor laws and maintain knowledge of related regulations. Attend updates, conferences, and other meetings as needed. Complete necessary human resources reporting, including monthly NY State new‑hire report, EP‑Staff check report, credential/licensure checks, and physical assessment reporting. Enroll eligible employees into benefit programs and complete monthly benefits orientation. Organize yearly benefits fair and open enrollment process. Administer quarterly enrollment for agency 401(k) plan and participate on the investment committee when requested. Manage leave of absence including FMLA, workers’ compensation, NYS PFL, and disability. Reconcile monthly benefit bills with employee deductions and approve benefit invoices. Perform general HR duties: share information, ensure staff communication, and maintain employee files. Perform any duty requested by supervisor, including strategic initiatives. Skills Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and database administration. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel using tact and diplomacy. Proven ability to use independent judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills. Education Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline. Experience Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in Human Resources or related customer service experience. Certification PHR/SPHR certification preferred. Physical Requirements Physical actions may include bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running. Adequate vision, speech, hearing, and tactical senses required.
