Litigation Attorney - Civil Litigation - Insurance Defense
White, Getgey & Meyer Co., LPA
White, Getgey & Meyer is a civil litigation law firm that handles cases throughout Ohio and Northern Kentucky involving personal injury claims (home, auto, business), wrongful death claims, and commercial/business disputes resulting in litigation.
The ideal Litigation Attorney candidate will be responsible for managing and handling the defense of civil lawsuits arising primarily from auto accidents, premises liability claims, and commercial claims, from commencement of the litigation through conclusion, either settlement, dismissal, or trial.
Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, and corresponding with clients, Judges, attorneys, and insurance claims professionals
- Attending court hearings
- Managing all phases of written discovery, including detailed analysis of injury claims
- Taking and defending depositions of parties and witnesses
- Total case management and development of litigation strategy
- Alternative dispute resolution
- Researching legal issues, complex coverage questions, and completing formal legal opinions
- Evaluating personal injury claims
- Collaboration with Litigation Paralegals
- Reviewing employment, financial and tax records
- Management and coordination of all phases of litigated case files
Qualifications
- 1+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably representing plaintiffs or defendants in personal injury claims
- Ohio law license
- JD from ABA accredited law school
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate work, managing deadlines
- Willingness to collaborate with co-workers in a team environment
- Ability and willingness to try cases
