Job Summary Tech AI at the Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking a highly accomplished Research Scientist with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field and at least 10 years of applied industry experience. This role is ideal for a collaborative problem solver who enjoys developing cutting-edge AI solutions, working across diverse sectors, and translating innovative research into real-world impact. As a Research Scientist on the Tech AI team, you will sit at the intersection of applied research and real-world delivery. You will play a major role in the development and application of advanced AI and machine learning methods to address high-impact challenges across sectors such as advanced manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, operations, financial services, healthcare, energy, and national security. Working closely with Research Software Engineers (RSEs), faculty, students, industry partners, and government stakeholders, you will help transform promising research into robust, scalable, production-ready systems. Beyond technical leadership, you will contribute to sponsored research initiatives, competitive grant proposals, business development efforts, and strategic partnerships that expand Georgia Tech's AI impact. You will engage clients and collaborators, communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and help shape the future pipeline of AI opportunities. Preferred Qualifications PhD in AI, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline PhD in AI, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline 10+ years of hands on experience applying AI/ML in industry settings Background in solutions development or consulting services within at least two of the following: manufacturing, supply chain, operations, financial services, healthcare Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals, technical proposals, and business cases to secure funding for complex technology initiatives. Strong public speaking and communication skills Proficiency with modern AI/ML frameworks and cloud environments Experience with generative AI or advanced deep learning architecturesAbility to listen closely to clients and identify the core problems behind their needs Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams Evidence of technical leadership through publications, patents, open-source contributions, industry presentations, or other recognized professional accomplishments.
