Job Title: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive/Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute inpatient ICU RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Patient assessment, plan of care, clinical interventions, patient and family education, delegating tasks Description: A professional nurse is an individual accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit while promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition; demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services; utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs and as appropriate to the care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; functions as a mentor/preceptor; demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork; identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes; complies with regulatory standards; participates in the Practice Governance model. Required Skills & Experience: Two years of acute care RN experience. Preferred Skills & Experience: N/A Required Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree (ASN). Preferred Education: N/A
