Head Teller

Job Summary The Head Teller I is responsible for the total cash program and the implementation of the cash policy of the credit union ensuring that members’ transactions are handled in the most efficient, accurate manner. This individual supervises teller staff, has access to the total operating cash fund, and is responsible for verifying and maintaining all cash records. Job Duties Analyze cash needs and make certain that sufficient cash is available. Replenish cash to tellers; maintain and balance cash dispensers as needed. Maintain plastic cards and inventories, reconciling to monthly reports as needed. Supervise and schedule the work of tellers on a regular basis. Maintain daily schedule for teller staff (e.g., lunch hours, vacation, etc.) to assure branch is staffed appropriately. Monitor, edit, and approve eTIME timecards. Complete performance reviews with assistance from management. Maintain individual cash boxes. Assist all tellers in securing relevant information to effectively evaluate the validity of items presented at the teller line. Be knowledgeable of all computer transactions, the Head Teller Manual, and the Teller Manual, and be capable of performing each transaction for members. Set an example for others by being courteous at all times and making an effort to greet members in a friendly, professional manner. Utilize knowledge of products and services to efficiently cross‑sell to members. Handle complex accounts and problems of credit union members with total accuracy and professionalism. Work various departmental reports on a timely basis. Ensure that checks are scanned in a timely manner. Ensure that the branch is balanced at the end of the day. Reinforce Credit Union Security policies and branch procedures to the tellers. Comply with Founders’ policies and procedures, federal regulations, and applicable laws such as NCUA and FFIEC. All other duties as assigned. Job Specifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 6 months of teller experience, with proven ability to handle large sums of money accurately and efficiently. Strong work ethic and reliability, suitable for a leadership‑focused role. Comprehensive knowledge of the Credit Union’s: Cash Policy Security Program Broad understanding of all Credit Union products and services, with the ability to provide members with accurate information on: Interest rates Savings accounts Certificates Other available Credit Union services Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants strongly encouraged to apply — not required but highly valued for serving our diverse membership. Candidate must be available Monday‑Thursday 8 am‑5 pm, Friday 8 am‑6 pm. A pre‑employment criminal background check, drug screen, consumer credit investigation, and previous employer reference check will be required.
