Floor Manager

KAIYŌ restaurant group is excited to announce the reopening of our beautifully remodeled neighborhood restaurant, Kaiyo Handroll Bar, and we’re looking for an experienced, hospitality-focused Floor Manager to lead our team into this next chapter. We are a community-driven restaurant known for our warm hospitality, high-quality Nikkei food, and friendly, inclusive atmosphere.

Position Summary

The Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing daily front-of-house operations and ensuring a smooth, efficient, and hospitality-focused guest experience. This position leads the service team during shifts, supports staff, addresses guest concerns, and ensures company standards are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise front-of-house staff during assigned shifts.
• Oversee service flow and ensure the restaurant operates efficiently.
• Maintain a strong presence on the floor and provide support to staff.
• Ensure guests receive professional, friendly, and attentive service.
• Handle guest concerns and resolve service issues promptly and professionally.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, reservations, events, and operational updates.
• Monitor staff performance, attendance, punctuality, dress code, and adherence to company policies.
• Coach and train employees on service standards, menu knowledge, hospitality, and procedures.
• Coordinate with the kitchen, bar, host team, and management to maintain smooth service.
• Monitor table sections, reservations, seating flow, and guest wait times.
• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper presentation of the dining room and service areas.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-shift responsibilities.
• Monitor alcohol service and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Document employee performance issues, incidents, and guest complaints as needed.
• Support the General Manager with daily operations and special events.
• Lead by example and maintain a professional, respectful, and positive work environment.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of restaurant service and front-of-house operations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent guest service and hospitality skills.
• Ability to coach, train, and hold employees accountable.
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Food safety certification and alcohol-service certification as required.

Expectations

The Floor Manager is expected to be visible, engaged, and actively managing the floor throughout the shift. The manager should anticipate operational needs, support the team, communicate effectively, address issues promptly, and ensure every guest receives a high level of hospitality.
