About Duke Regional Hospital Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, has 388 beds and is the second largest of Duke Health’s four hospitals. It offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including orthopedics, weight‑loss surgery, women’s services, and heart and vascular services. MRI Technologist – Duke Regional Hospital Commitment Bonus: $15,000, Relocation: $3,000. Summary Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high‑field‑strength magnets. Work Performed Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedures. Assist radiologists with protocoling and performance of procedures. Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed and by protocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images, sequence acquisition, and label appropriately. Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions. Charge MR procedures and supplies in the EHR, load and operate power injectors for contrast administration. Maintain accurate patient records. Provide orientation for new technologists. Provide education and training for student technologists. Ensure the psychological and physical needs of patients for MR procedures. Use the Image Archival System. Operate equipment for high‑field‑strength magnets to produce special radiographic images. Position patients using immobilization and protective equipment as required. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow among multiple MR sites. Assist physicians (interns, residents, fellows) with education and training when applicable. Help develop new protocols and imaging techniques unique to DUHS. Teach the correct application of >100 MR protocols to new technologists, physicians, and researchers. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described. Education Graduate or completion of a program meeting eligibility requirements for registration/certification, or currently holds required registry or certification. Experience Level I: Obtain ARRT or ARMRIT in Magnetic Resonance within 18 months of employment. Level II: Minimum of two years' experience as an MRI technologist. Level III: Minimum of four years' experience within specialty modality in which promotion is sought. Degrees, Licenses, and Certifications Certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or registry eligible for Magnetic Resonance.
