Overview The Surgical Tech, WakeMed Travel Staffing is an allied health professional who is an integral part of a team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to a variety of patient populations. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Applies sterile and aseptic technique that combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities Ensure operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly. Support surgeons or registered nurses during operative procedures under supervision. Perform sterile and aseptic technique in accordance with surgical procedures. Facilitate physician performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Qualifications Certified Surgical Technologist or Tech in Surgery certification required. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Graduate in Surgical Technology or Military Surgical Technology required. Minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Surgical Technician.
