The Compass School of Texas is an independent school in Dallas, serving Pre-K through 5th Grade for the academic year of 2026-2027 and will grow to 8th Grade. The Compass School of Texas offers an inquiry based approach to a robust, rigorous curriculum with classical literature, financial fundamentals, daily Spanish, brain health, and Farm-to-Table living. About the Educator Position
The purpose of this position is to lead the classroom and enrich the student experience as the whole child. This position will report to the school executive administration. Responsibilities for the Teacher will include but are not limited to, working with students to support students’ academic growth as recorded by weekly documentation and shared with parents. The teacher will collaborate with faculty and administration to support the implementation of the The Compass School of Texas curriculum. The Teacher will apply consistent classroom management strategies to support an orderly classroom and fulfill assigned extra duties which may include carpool and/or the lunch hour. The ideal candidate for this position should hold a B.A. or B.S. degree from a four-year college or university, a teacher certification or enrolled in a teacher certification program, and a strong interest in the education of elementary students. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive and enthusiastic personality, and a strong command of the English language, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team. Applicants should be strong team players and be very initiative taking and flexible. Final candidates need to be prepared for a teaching demonstration.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Develop, plan, and implement curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs for students within interdisciplinary teaching in collaboration with the Academic Team as needed.
● Advise, test, and teach students in a variety of academic subjects. Presents and reinforces learning concepts with real-world and hands-on applications.
● Answer student inquiries related to the curriculum to ensure each student’s understanding of the material.
● Set educational and developmental goals for the children in your cohort, both as a group and
individually and ensure each student’s academic success which may be tailored to individual needs.
● Prepare and submit appropriate documentation, academic and program reports, and individual progress reports to the executive team and to parents. Collaborate with the Learning Specialist on any specialized learning plans for individual children, as needed.
● Thoughtfully prepare the indoor and outdoor environments to support the daily objectives.
● Plan and conduct appropriate daily curriculum and long-term projects to further support those goals.
● Arrive at school 30 minutes before carpool and is available for assigned duties or set-up (7:30 AM) and stays until 30 minutes after dismissal or enrichments
● Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including the 2 -3 week summer session
● Attend and participate in all staff meetings and maintain strong positive communication within staff
● Perform necessary duties including but not limited to carpool; lunch and recess; special event set-up, tear-down, and attendance; training and staff meetings; student assessments, documentation, and communication; and any other campus needs.
● Chaperone field lessons and field trips
● Abide by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect
● Uphold and model behavior within the school's values, code of conduct and all school policies
● Maintain and support a positive professional school culture
● Support and follow directives of campus administrators.
Qualifications/Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree in Education, or related field, or 5+ years’ experience working with children required
● Teacher certification or enrolled in a teacher certification program preferred
● Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding people skills
● Excellent problem-solving, creativity, multitasking skills, and the ability to thrive in a start-up environment are necessary
● Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports, and individualize instruction based on the data
● Ability to design lesson plans, implement curriculum with fidelity, assess students, evaluate progress and adapt teaching strategies, provide targeted instruction, receive feedback, and collaborate with co-teachers
● Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present in public to both parents and other educators
● Genuine passion for teaching, working with children, and the subject matter being taught
● Ability to work well in a team and in a very collegial and collaborative environment
● Willingness to be an active, enthusiastic contributor to the Compass Community
● Excellent attendance and punctuality
● Demonstrates, models, and promotes critical thinking, autonomy, initiative, and grit
● Knowledge of inquiry-based learning is a plus, but will train.

● Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
● The final candidate will need to pass both a background and reference check and provide at least three professional references.
