REACH ASP Lead Teacher

MCSCS, SAMS, MSES REACH Afterschool Program – Lead Teacher MSAD 54 is seeking applicants for a REACH Afterschool Program Lead Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year . The Lead Teacher is a key member of the site leadership team, supporting the Site Co-Coordinators in the daily operation of a licensed school-age child care program. This position provides instructional and operational leadership while maintaining responsibility for a student group. The Lead Teacher serves as the acting site leader when a Site Co-Coordinator is absent, opening or closing the program as needed and ensuring continuity of program operations, licensing compliance, and high-quality programming. This position is ideal for educators who are interested in expanding their leadership skills while continuing to work directly with students. Primary Responsibilities Lead a daily student group through engaging academic enrichment, STEM, recreation, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities. Support the Site Co-Coordinators in the daily operation of the program. Serve as acting site leader by opening, closing, and overseeing program operations when a Site Co-Coordinator is unavailable. Help ensure compliance with Maine DHHS Child Care Licensing Rules and maintain required documentation. Assist with 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) attendance tracking, data collection, and data entry. Support planning and facilitation of family engagement events and special program activities. Assist with staff meetings, onboarding, coaching, and day-to-day staff support. Foster a safe, welcoming, and trauma-responsive learning environment. Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners. Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required; Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation, Social Work, or a related field preferred. Experience working with school-age children in an educational, child care, or youth development setting. Demonstrated leadership experience or the ability to assume leadership responsibilities when needed. Knowledge of, or willingness to become proficient in, Maine DHHS Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations. Willingness to learn and support 21st CCLC data collection and reporting requirements. Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills. Selected applicant must successfully pass the Maine DHHS fingerprinting process and the Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) as a condition of employment. Schedule & Compensation Approximately 10–12 hours per week during the school year. Must be available to work four days per week, including Mondays and Fridays. SAMS Lead teacher not required to work Fridays. Program hours are 2:15–5:15 p.m. Rate of pay: $21.00 per hour. All REACH staff are eligible to participate in Maine's Early Childhood Educator Supplemental Wage Program through MRTQ.
