OHD TechnicianThe Overhead Door Technician works as part of a field service team installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of commercial overhead door systems and related equipment. This role focuses on sectional, rolling steel, high-speed, service and sliding doors, gate opening systems, operable partitions, and dock leveling systems. You serve as the primary on-site representative to customers, ensuring that all work is completed safely, accurately, and in a professional manner. Comprehensive product-specific training is provided to teach new technicians the techniques and procedures required for the company’s product lines.ResponsibilitiesInstall, service, and repair commercial overhead door systems including sectional doors, rolling steel doors, high-speed doors, service doors, sliding doors, gate opening systems, operable partitions, and dock leveling systems.Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams to plan and execute installations and service work.Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components of overhead door systems and related equipment.Use scissor lifts, high lifts, fork trucks, telehandlers/lulls, and other heavy equipment safely and effectively to complete installations and repairs.Organize job sites, maintain a clean and efficient work area, and demonstrate strong attention to detail throughout each project.Ensure job site safety at all times, adhering to company safety policies as well as customer-specific safety requirements.Complete required safety and site-access training necessary to work at local manufacturing facilities.Load and unload bulky and heavy job site materials from trucks and trailers, using hoists and slings when possible to assist with lifting and positioning.Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed after receiving appropriate training.Represent the company professionally at customer job sites, maintaining a positive attitude, punctuality, reliability, and a customer-focused demeanor.Work 40+ hours per week with the flexibility to perform overtime, occasional weekend work, and travel to different job sites as required.Maintain an insurable driving record, operate company vehicles responsibly, and comply with all driving and DOT-related requirements.For those with leadership experience, review bid documents and blueprints, understand product specifications, ensure materials are ordered correctly, explain scope of work to technicians, coordinate projects with customers and other project managers, and help keep projects running smoothly and within budget.Essential SkillsMinimum of 2 years of verifiable experience reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams.Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical components.Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience using scissor lifts, high lifts, fork trucks, or other types of heavy equipment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical systems.Proven job site organizational skills and strong attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to ensure job site safety in accordance with company policies and customer requirements.Ability to complete required training to gain access to local manufacturing sites.Current or ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification.Current or ability to obtain Association of Reciprocal Safety Council (ARSC) certification.Valid drivers license with a strong driving record.Ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance program.Ability to obtain a For Hire endorsement as required.Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug assessment.Ability to lift bulky and heavy materials overhead.Ability to work at heights safely and comfortably.Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including hot, cold, and snowy environments.Additional Skills & QualificationsCommercial overhead door installation and service experience or closely related field service experience is strongly preferred.Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience in commercial overhead door installation/service or relevant work experience.Experience training and leading colleagues in job processes and procedures.ARC/MIG welding experience.Metal fabrication experience, including working with structural and sheet metal components.Experience using hoists and slings to move and position heavy materials.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience with PLC functions, including ladder logic and programming.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience understanding relay logic circuits and working with 3-phase 480-volt electrical systems.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in analytical and troubleshooting work on mechanical and electrical components.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience in job site organization and detailed project execution.Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience ensuring job site safety and using scissor lifts, high lifts, fork trucks, and other heavy equipment.Background as a technician, installer, field service technician, maintenance technician, or welder is beneficial.Proficiency with hand tools and familiarity with blueprint reading in a construction or industrial environment.Understanding of PLC Work takes place at various customer job sites, including manufacturing facilities and commercial buildings, where technicians install and service overhead door systems using lifts, forklifts, telehandlers, hoists, slings, and a full range of hand and power tools. The environment can involve working at heights and handling large, bulky materials, often outdoors or in partially enclosed areas, so you will regularly encounter hot, cold, and snowy weather conditions. Company vehicles are provided for travel to job sites, and tools are supplied to support safe and efficient work. The role is physically active, requiring regular lifting, climbing, and movement around equipment and structures while adhering to strict safety standards and site-specific requirements.Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Evansville, IN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $65520.00/yr.
