Bachelor's degree of related subject from an accredited university and a Wisconsin teaching license or the opportunity to get a license

Description of Position:


Humke Elementary School, a pre-K through grade 3 school, is searching for a 4-K teacher who is dynamic, progressive, and collaborative. Favored candidates will be inspiring and demonstrate the additional capacity to learn and grow in their knowledge of helping students become responsible, independent learners, who can self-direct their learning, and learn how to self-regulate.

At Humke Elementary School, we are aiming to create a school where students are challenged, healthy, engaged, safe, and supported.

1. understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry and ways of knowing that are central to the discipline(s) s/he teaches.

2. understands how children with broad ranges of ability learn and provides instruction that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development.

6. uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration and supportive interaction in the classroom.

7. organizes and plans systematic instruction based upon knowledge of the subject matter, pupils, the community, and curriculum goals.

8. understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social and physical development of pupils

9. is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effect of his or her choices and actions on pupils, parents, professionals in the learning community, and others, and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.

10. fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well-being and who acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.

The Nekoosa School District is a Pre-K - 12 public school system located in central Wisconsin, which serves students in the city of Nekoosa and townships of Armenia, Port Edwards, Rome, and Saratoga. Our district serves 1,030+ students within its three buildings.
