Overview Our Area Director of Events blazes the trail for our catering and conferences services team at both Michelin Key awarded Lake Nona Wave Hotel, best-in-brand Aloft Orlando Lake Nona and Althea Events Center. Responsible for the creativity, evolution and leadership of the events team at both properties taking both teams to the next level through thoughtful recruitment, mentorship and training of our talented team members and developing the best ways of working to maximize revenue and efficiencies. This position curates operating procedures for the team from sales through to execution and follow-up. The successful candidate will have the passion and drive to find new revenue opportunities and consistently strive to maximize revenue and promote relationships through effective negotiation of services meanwhile extending services levels that stand our property apart in a crowded market. Responsibilities Develop a catering and conferences services marketing plan including goals and strategies that pivot throughout the year Drive prospecting, soliciting and closing new business as well as maintaining repeat clients. Personally handle all major events and VIP clients, Work in lockstep the with Group Sales team to sell menus which meet the client’s needs and maximize revenues Complete regular forecasting of event revenues and control expenses of labor Review & develop departmental structure (i.e. sales, support & service staff) Periodically review & adjust catering menus to ensure product and vision consistency Work with F&B Director and Banquet Manager to establish policy standards, procedures, operational guidelines & service manual Work closely with Tavistock Restaurant Collection on cross-selling and coordinating event space at sister properties in the Lake Nona area Qualifications 5+ years-experience asa Catering and Conference Service leaderwith a boutique, lifestyle or luxury property Dynamic, detailed and creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshot when needed Must have a strong, culture-first approach balancing team member growth with nurturing. Be able to balance emotions while under pressure. Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills. Highly developed customer service skills with extremely strong attention to detail Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred The ability to mentor, delegate, train and coach CMP strongly preferred Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays #J-18808-Ljbffr
