Business Analyst For Data Engineering Project On Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

A Business Analyst for a data engineering project on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical data solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of data, business processes, and the ability to translate requirements into actionable plans for data engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Requirements Elicitation and Documentation:
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, objectives, and priorities related to data engineering initiatives on GCP.
• Conduct workshops, interviews, and surveys to gather detailed functional and non-functional requirements for data pipelines, data storage, and data processing.
• Translate business needs into clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation, including user stories, technical specifications, and data flow diagrams.
• Data Analysis and Profiling:
• Perform data analysis and profiling to understand existing data sources, structures, quality, and potential challenges for migration or integration into GCP.
• Identify data inconsistencies, gaps, and areas for improvement to ensure data quality and integrity within the GCP environment.
• Solution Design and Collaboration:
• Work closely with data engineers, architects, and other technical teams to design and implement data solutions on GCP, including data pipelines (ETL/ELT), data warehousing, and data lake architectures.
• Ensure that proposed solutions align with business requirements, data governance standards, and GCP best practices.
• Testing and Validation:
• Support data validation, testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data within the GCP data platform.
• Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and provide support to business users during and after data migration or new data solution deployments.
• Stakeholder Communication and Management:
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, including business users, technical teams, and project management.
• Explain complex technical concepts in an understandable manner to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within data-centric or cloud-based projects.

• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services relevant to data engineering (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub).

• Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

• Knowledge of data governance and compliance principles is a plus.
