Job Summary The Medical Services group with the University ofColorado, Boulder is seeking applications for a Nursingvacancy ! This position provides comprehensive sexual andreproductive health care, services, education and counselingprimarily to the UCB student population. Care may be extended toUCB faculty, staff and UCB visitors on an urgent care basis. MedicalServices provides a wide range of health care services for studentsfor primary care, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testingand treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, andconcussion care. Our skilled team of providers collaborate tosupport the overall health of our students with our team ofphysicians/nurses, physical therapists, registered dietitians,chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Patient Care Deliver care to all scheduled patients and “walk-in” patientsas needed within a sexual health and reproductive clinic setting,including managing phone calls and coordinating referrals to andfrom relevant providers and departments. Deliver patient care in treatment rooms, includingtriage/urgent care, phone triage, reproductive and sexual healthassessments, STI screening, contraceptive counseling, physicalexams, and immunization services. Collaborate with providers to develop and implement treatmentplans in accordance with established sexual and reproductive healthguidelines and standards. Communicate with and educates patients on sexual healthconditions, family planning options, follow-up care, and preventivemeasures. Maintain familiarity with the crash cart and is prepared toadminister BLS measures. Assess patients’ needs during triage, obtains appropriate vitalsigns, sexual and reproductive health histories, and documents allpertinent information in the Electronic Medical Record. Initiate standing orders as appropriate, including thoserelated to STI testing and contraception. Cross-train to other specialty clinics as staffingpermits. Patient Education/Counseling Educates/counsels patients on preventative health care,wellness, use of supplies and reinforces provider's instructions.Assists with, or directs the scheduling of follow-up care orreferrals, assists in the evaluation of outcomes of plan of carewith patient. EMR Documentation Complete documentation in the electronic medical recordincluding updating the patient summary screen, to include but notlimited to assessing for allergies, updating patient’s medicationlist, significant personal and family medical history, and learningbarriers. Responsible for charging for all procedures, treatments andmedications given. Document nursing interventions, phone calls and nursingassessments clearly in the EMR. Confirm two patient identifiers prior to charting Routine and Continuous Duties Maintain current knowledge of Wardenburg Policies, specificallythose related to Medical Services and assists in revision ofdepartmental policies. Update personal education log record and PMP in Cornerstoneattends nursing and department meetings as assigned. Perform additional duties as assigned but not limited to: Data collection and reporting QI monitors Stocking and checking for expired supplies and medications Checking equipment for proper function and maintenance inMedical Services. Responsibilities may be modified or expanded based on patientneeds and direction from the leadership team. What We Can Offer The annual salary range for this position is $53,175 – $61,417.50,based on an 80% appointment during the academic year (August toMay), with time reduced to 50% during the summer months (June &July), and compensation adjusted accordingly. What We Require Valid Registered Nurse License from the State of Colorado orany state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). 2 years of sexual health and reproductive care nursingexperience preferred. BLS certification required upon date of hire. What You Will Need Able to identify emergency situations. Able to navigate computers and Electronic Health Records(EHR). Able to prepare and administer medications andimmunizations. Able to properly administer subcutaneous and intramuscularinjections. Is thorough with documentation and is a good communicator. Position requires basic functional computer skills (experiencewith Windows based systems). What We Would Like You to Have Experience working with electronic medical record. Experience working in college setting (sexual healthpreferred). Ability to communicate and relate well with staff and studentsin an academic environment.
