Job Details Job ID: 5544092 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Feb 18, 2026 7:04 PM (UTC) Job Description Full-time Intervention Specialist (Portage County) Capstone Academy is an Educational Service Center (ESC) of Northeast Ohio program located within a residential facility. The educational program provides services for medically‑fragile students with profound multiple disabilities in grades K‑12 (ages 3‑22). Capstone Academy is seeking a qualified candidate for a full‑time Intervention Specialist position for the 2026‑2027 school year. This position is for a self‑contained, specialized classroom serving students with profound multiple disabilities and complex medical conditions. Candidates must possess a valid Intervention Specialist (K‑12) license through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Main Duties Develop effective student educational experiences that engage and stimulate learning, including lesson plans based on the Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLS‑E). Teach lessons based on the OLS‑E standards and vary instructional techniques to address diverse learning styles. Provide Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) as per each student's IEP. Support students in developing communication, adaptive functioning, cognitive, and motor skills. Prepare and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and facilitate IEP meetings. Maintain complete and accurate records and documentation. Evaluate the academic needs of students using formal and informal assessment strategies to monitor learning and progress. Write progress reports every nine weeks based on student IEP data. Complete required job‑related trainings (e.g., blood borne pathogens, safety drills). These will be provided by Capstone Academy and the residential facility. Qualifications Secure and maintain an Ohio Department of Education and Workforce license. Clear FBI and BCI background checks. Maintain a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Participate in and pass all required trainings (First Aid, CPR, Crisis Intervention, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.). Comply with drug‑free workplace rules and board policies. Embody high ethical standards, integrity, and responsibility for decisions and conduct. Adhere to ESC governing board policies, staff handbook, and the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators. Promote proper use and security of ESC property and report misconduct or equipment issues. Exhibit consistent, impartial, and resourceful critical‑thinking skills. Be proficient in office protocols, data entry, spelling, proofreading, and grammar. Show dependability, flexibility, and ability to respond productively to interruptions. Provide thorough attention to detail and effective customer service. Maintain an acceptable attendance record. Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect as required by law. Cross‑train with other staff, participate in meetings, and attend professional development in‑services. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Perform other job‑related duties as required. Working Conditions Risk of exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, bodily fluids and communicable diseases. Risk of exposure to airborne particulates, chemical irritants, combustible materials, electrical hazards, vibrations, noise, and odors; exposure to wet or slippery surfaces. Balancing, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing. Lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and equipment. Must occasionally move up to 50 lbs. Operate or ride in a vehicle.
