Laborer I - 90 Days STS (Boston Region)

Start/End Dates: 5/17/2026 to 9/7/2026 (90 days)

Work Hours: 40 hours - Varied work shifts, including weekends and holidays required.

Location: Boston Region Office 165 Day Boulevard, South Boston, MA

Roles will be assigned within the North Region locations (Wollaston Beach, Castle Island, Esplanade, or Shannon Beach) . Assignment may rotate among multiple locations and travel between start parks/forest may be required.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking laborers to support seasonal high profile events scheduled at our parks this summer. This position is central to delivering exceptional visitor experiences during major statewide and international events, including Tall Ships 2026, Massachusetts 250 (MA250) commemorations, FIFA World Cup Watch Parties, and other large-scale public gatherings.

Salaries are based upon full-time/40 hours worked per week. Work schedules and days off are at the discretion of the Supervisor. This position may require working weekends and/or holidays.

Please Note: Salary range compensation by hours worked is determined by several factors, including experience, seniority, the agency's budget, and the nature of the role (e.g., short-term contract vs. full-time position). For union positions, salary is determined in accordance with the applicable bargaining unit's salary schedule and governing regulations. (salary is $17.00 per hour non-negotiable).

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for multiple positions 2026 Seasonal Laborer I - Boston Region.


Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Seasonal Laborers perform and assist with a variety of duties in connection with conservation and maintenance work including, but not limited to, grounds and facility maintenance work including cleaning restrooms and other site buildings, cutting grass, raking leaves, watering, rubbish removal, beautification of parks, campgrounds, and reservations, beaches and facilities.

May be expected to use a variety of hand tools.

May operate motor vehicles and light trucks including loading and unloading of supplies, equipment, etc.

Greet and assist park visitors and provide information about the facility.

Based on assignment, collect fees and may be required to possess a current and valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Perform other related duties as required.
