About the Job – Your Role As a Correctional Sergeant, you will be a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department. You will serve as a lead worker, ensuring facility operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You will supervise AICs during movement assignments, monitor high‑security areas, and conduct security operations such as transports, searches, and emergency response. In this role, you will also play a key part in staff development, assisting in training and potentially mentoring subordinate staff as a Field Training Officer. You will lead by example, modeling professionalism, accountability, and behaviors that support rehabilitation efforts. Working Conditions Constant exposure to adult male and female AICs within a prison setting. Exposure to emotionally and mentally unstable and deviant behaviors within the work environment on an on‑going basis. Rotating shifts/positions of a 7 day/24‑hour operation. Mandatory overtime. Participation on riot squads or tactical teams. Searches of unclothed AICs. Collecting urine samples. Some travel and hospital supervision. Perform continuous physical activity which may include bending and standing for prolonged periods.
