Job Details Job Title: Junior Maintenance / Grounds Location: Somerset Berkley and Somerset Public Schools, Somerset Middle School, Somerset, Massachusetts Starting Date: Jul 1, 2026 Position Type: Full‑time Salary: $22.94 to $26.40 per hour Job ID: 5761533 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Job Description Performance Responsibilities: Trim and cut grass at the middle school and assist elementary schools when needed Trim shrubs and trees at the middle school and assist elementary schools when needed Ensure all trash receptacles are emptied at the middle school and assist elementary schools when needed Line athletic fields as requested by the middle school Athletic Director Ensure sidewalks are clean of snow and ice at the middle school and assist elementary schools when needed Salt and sand any areas that are deemed unsafe for students and staff at the middle school and assist elementary schools when needed Pick up papers and debris from outside building, sidewalks, parking areas and school grounds Ensure athletic structures are assembled and ready for use (nets, goals, etc.) at the middle school Ensure maintenance equipment is clean and fully functional, keep records on equipment for middle school and elementary schools Ensure courtyard is maintained (trash, shrubs, etc.) at the middle school Small engine certification required Perform any maintenance work required for Somerset Public Schools as requested by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds Additional Responsibilities Painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, repair work and maintenance of equipment and any other related work may be assigned Job Requirements Reports to: Building and Grounds Supervisor Terms of employment: In accordance with the existing bargaining agreement between Somerset Public Schools and AFSME Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Citizenship, residency or work visa required Equal Opportunity Employer Somerset Public Schools/Somerset Berkley Regional School District is in compliance with the U.S. Civil Service Rights Act of 1964 and the Title IX Educational Amendments of 1972, Part 86 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
