Job Title: Mold Assembler (Crimper) – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Shift
Job Description

This role plays a critical part in assembling high-performance polymer insulators by attaching metal end fittings to polymer cores and ensuring each unit meets strict mechanical and electrical performance standards. You will work hands-on with hydraulic and pneumatic crimping tools, follow detailed work instructions, and adhere to precise pressure and dimensional specifications to produce reliable components for electrical transmission and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Assemble polymer insulator components according to detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and established quality standards.
• Operate hydraulic and pneumatic crimping equipment to attach metal end fittings to polymer rods and cores.
• Set, verify, and follow precise pressure and force specifications for each crimping operation to ensure consistent quality.
• Inspect crimped assemblies for proper depth, alignment, bonding, and structural integrity, taking corrective action as needed.
• Support polymer molding, curing, and material preparation processes as required to maintain production flow.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, depth gauges, and go/no-go gauges to confirm dimensional accuracy and crimp tolerances.
• Utilize cutting tools, including cable cutters, trimming tools, and utility knives, to prepare materials and components for assembly.
• Use hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and mallets to complete assembly tasks and adjustments.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe equipment handling, and lockout/tagout practices.
• Identify and communicate defects, equipment issues, or material shortages promptly to supervision to minimize downtime.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and team-based problem solving to enhance quality, safety, and productivity.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and comply with ISO-controlled measurement and inspection practices.

• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a production and assembly environment.
• Experience operating hydraulic and pneumatic crimping tools and presses for attaching metal end fittings.
• Ability to set and follow exact pressure and force specifications for crimping operations.
• Proficiency using hand and power tools, including torque wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and mallets.
• Ability to use measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and go/no-go gauges in an ISO-controlled environment.
• Experience in general production, assembly, or machine operation in a manufacturing setting.
• Capability to perform material handling tasks safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail when inspecting parts for dimensional accuracy, alignment, and structural integrity.
• Ability to follow written work instructions, drawings, and quality standards consistently.
• Commitment to following safety procedures, including PPE use and lockout/tagout requirements.

• Experience with crimping operations in wire harness, cable, or similar production environments.
• Background in polymer molding, molding machines, or related production processes.
• Familiarity with inspection practices in ISO-controlled manufacturing environments.
• Prior experience in general labor roles within a fast-paced production line.
• Comfort working with both manual and powered crimping tools and torque-controlled tools.
• Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on business needs and shift availability.

You will join a U.S.-based manufacturing operation that specializes in high-performance polymer and porcelain insulators used in critical electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. The facility combines advanced molding, assembly, and precision crimping processes with strong materials engineering expertise and rigorous quality and testing standards. Work Environment

This position is based in a non–climate-controlled production facility where temperatures can become very hot during the summer months. You will work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment that uses polymer molding equipment and hydraulic/pneumatic crimping tools. The setting is structured and team-oriented, with defined workstations, established safety procedures, and ISO-controlled measurement and inspection practices. Employees may keep water at their workstation to stay hydrated throughout the shift. The role follows a consistent full-time schedule with opportunities for overtime depending on production needs, and operates on multiple shifts, including 1st (approximately 7:00 a.m.–3:15 p.m.), 2nd (approximately 3:00 p.m.–11:15 p.m.), and 3rd (approximately 11:00 p.m.–7:15 a.m.) on weekdays, with some shifts running Sunday through Thursday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
