Quality Inspector

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector to ensure that fabricated and manufactured components consistently meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and engineering requirements. In this hands-on role, you apply mechanical aptitude, precision measurement skills, and sound judgment to identify and resolve quality concerns before they become problems.

• Inspect fabricated and manufactured parts to verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and established quality standards.
• Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, including dial calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection tools as required, to confirm dimensional accuracy.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to understand and apply manufacturing and inspection requirements.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using both metric and imperial measurement systems.
• Identify nonconforming materials, components, and products, and assist in determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Communicate quality requirements clearly and professionally with engineering teams, shop personnel, and customers when needed.
• Review prints and specifications to ensure manufacturing requirements are fully understood and properly followed on the shop floor.
• Investigate potential quality issues, ask clarifying questions, and work collaboratively with others to resolve concerns.
• Maintain inspection records, documentation, and reports in an organized, accurate, and traceable manner.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and actively contribute to maintaining a strong quality-focused culture throughout the organization.

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or metalworking environment.
• Hands-on experience with inspection, quality control, and quality assurance processes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including dial calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection tools.
• Ability to read and record measurements accurately in both metric and imperial units.
• Solid understanding of metal materials and the ability to distinguish between carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple departments.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound decision-making ability when addressing quality issues.

• Experience working in a custom fabrication or job shop environment.
• Exposure to customer-specific quality requirements and custom manufacturing processes.
• Mechanical inclination and comfort in a hands-on production and inspection setting.
• Familiarity with maintaining quality inspection documentation and records in a structured format.

This role is based in a manufacturing and fabrication environment with a standard daytime schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with minimal overtime expected throughout the year. You work closely with shop personnel and engineering teams, using precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other inspection equipment in a production setting. The environment is hands-on and mechanically oriented, requiring comfort around metal materials and fabricated components, with appropriate work attire suited to a fabrication and machining facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allegan, MI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
