Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Presque Isle, ME Department: General Lab Location: Northern Lights Hospital, Presque Isle, ME. On‑call Monday‑Friday 6:00 am‑2:30 pm (variable hours & weekends). About the Role: Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in a hospital‑based position at Northern Lights Hospital. This role involves state‑of‑the‑art laboratory instrumentation and diagnostic information services. Pay Range: Minimum of $29.24 per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Benefits: 401(k) plan with eligibility after one month and a fully vested company match up to 5% of pay. On‑call employees receive 401(k) pre‑tax and/or Roth IRA with company match up to 5% after 12 months of service. Responsibilities Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient result records. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are processed like patient specimens. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures. Review and release test results. Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in respective guidelines. Follow laboratory policies and procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct them, or notify the senior technologist or supervisor immediately. Qualifications Education: BS in Medical Technology (preferred) or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a technologist under 42 CFR 493. Work Experience: 1 year of clinical experience in high‑complexity testing (preferred). Experience as an MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, or Clinical Lab Scientist.
