UPF Technical Procedure Writer, Level IV

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking engineering, professional, technical, and administrative support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS and will report to Y‑12 staff for day‑to‑day direction and assignments. AIS will provide pay, benefits, and HR functions. Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre‑employment requirements, including physicals, drug screening, and background investigation required for a DOE clearance. Responsibilities Develop new, revised, or modified technical procedures enabling personnel to safely and correctly perform tasks related to dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection. Ensure compliance with Y15‑232 Technical Procedure Process and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT). Occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures in compliance with Y15‑235 Administrative Management Requirements Process and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT). Develop Enterprise procedures applicable to Y‑12 and Pantex. Prepare and coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution. Implement hazard controls, capture quality and performance data, and verify and validate that procedures can be performed as written. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree with 15–20 years of experience in technical disciplines and experience writing technical procedures at a commercial or Weapons Complex facility. (Alternatively, a technical background with 18 years of experience writing procedures at a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex may be considered.) Familiarity with regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures and ability to interpret DOE orders and standards, including 60‑101PD, Y60‑015, NCS documents, and Hazard Analysis documents. Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one. Special Requirements External applicants must complete a post‑offer pre‑employment drug test. Job‑related pre‑placement medical examinations may be required. If a DOE clearance is required, the position may be classified as a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position, requiring participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre‑employment drug screen.
