Surgical Technologist

As a Surgical Technologist, you will assist during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile surgical field and providing necessary instrumentation to the surgical team. You will participate in unit activities that ensure high levels of quality related to patient care, functioning under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrates expertise in sterile and aseptic techniques, along with knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures, to perform invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Maintains and checks all surgical items for proper packaging, processing, integrity, and expiration, ensuring a safe operating room environment.
• Monitors the sterile field for potential contamination and takes corrective action as needed under supervision.
• Works towards competency in Tier 1 surgical cases.
• Maintains flexibility to support individualized care delivery within the scope of practice.
• Communicates effectively and participates fully in the Time Out Process, including briefings and debriefings.
• Assists with patient transports, room turnovers, and preparation of the surgical area.
• Exhibits professional behavior by staying current with new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
• Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Models the principles of a Just Culture.

Additional Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or experience as a Licensed Surgical Technologist.
• Must be licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to acquire necessary computer skills for role-specific competencies and online requirements within 90 days.
• Must possess a working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
