Job Description
This electromechanical technician role focuses on accurately and safely assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems and subassemblies. You will work from drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and written instructions to build high‑quality assemblies, perform detailed inspections, and support continuous improvement across the production team. The position offers the opportunity to grow into advanced responsibilities, including leadership on first‑article projects, field service work, and mentoring less experienced associates.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials, and written or verbal instructions.
- Perform detailed electrical tasks including soldering, stripping, crimping, and splicing wires to build cables and wire harnesses that conform to applicable standards.
- Build mechanical subassemblies using a variety of fastening methods and torque fasteners to the proper specification and in the correct sequence.
- Route cables and secure wiring throughout systems, ensuring neat, safe, and reliable installations.
- Properly and consistently attach labels or nameplates to assemblies, components, and cables for clear identification.
- Measure dimensions to verify proper clearance of parts and confirm that assemblies meet design requirements.
- Safely use standard assembly tooling such as hex wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, torque tools, and appropriate fixtures to aid assembly.
- Read and understand electrical schematics and bill of material structures, identifying and escalating any errors or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
- Inspect and test subassemblies by verifying mechanical functionality and testing for electrical continuity using a voltmeter.
- Visually inspect components for flaws or damage and promptly escalate issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with miscellaneous production tasks including packaging finished goods, material handling and kitting, warehouse cleanup, and organization.
- Maintain strong commitments to quality and safety and actively support company values in daily work.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including participation in 5S or similar workplace organization programs.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed while performing assembly and material handling tasks.
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining focus and accuracy.
- Use manual dexterity to quickly and accurately assemble parts and pieces into complete subassemblies.
- Upload component firmware and configure devices according to written instructions.
- Adhere to established redline processes to clearly document any as‑built changes to designs or work instructions.
- Maintain accurate accounting of project materials and promptly report any discrepancies or shortages.
- Rework and repair equipment and products as instructed to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Participate in the development of work instructions by writing simple instructions, cutsheets, or assembly notes when needed.
- Safely use advanced tooling, including power tools and specialized test equipment such as CableEye systems.
- Identify the need for, and assist in, the development of tools and jigs that improve assembly processes and efficiency.
- Operate and maintain test fixtures, test devices, and test cables to ensure reliable verification of assemblies.
- Perform field service work as needed, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair of systems at customer locations.
- Proficiently navigate 3D CAD models and e‑drawings as an aid to assembly and troubleshooting.
- Perform full system cold checks using schematics to conduct continuity checks and validate wiring.
- Obtain and apply company‑sponsored high‑voltage electrical safety training to act as a qualified worker and safely perform hot checks on new systems.
- Apply advanced proficiency in the layout, routing, and termination of wires for UL 508A electrical panels.
- Apply advanced proficiency in building cables and wire harnesses that conform to IPC 620 standards.
- Apply advanced proficiency in assembling 24V safety circuits, including emergency stops, light curtains, status lights, and sensors.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities for the production team and take a leadership role in implementing improvement activities.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for electromechanical assemblies, including motors, cables, electrical panels, and mechanical components.
- Assume a leadership role on first‑article projects as assigned, ensuring new builds meet quality and design expectations.
- Act as a leader for the production team, upholding strong values, ethics, and commitments to quality and safety.
- Occasionally collaborate with the engineering department on proof‑of‑concept and research and development builds.
- Mentor and assist with training less experienced associates, sharing best practices and promoting a culture of learning.
- Communicate ideas and facts in a professional manner to all stakeholders, including production, engineering, and other cross‑functional teams.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2+ years of electromechanical assembly or related build experience.
- Proven ability to solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical wiring for assemblies and harnesses.
- Experience building mechanical subassemblies using a variety of fastening methods and following proper torque specifications and sequences.
- Ability to route cables and secure wiring throughout systems to meet design and safety requirements.
- Competence in attaching labels or nameplates to assemblies, components, and cables with consistency and accuracy.
- Ability to measure dimensions and verify proper clearance of parts using appropriate tools.
- Proficient use of standard assembly tooling, including hex wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, wire strippers, and torque tools.
- Experience using assembly tooling and fixtures to aid in proper and repeatable assembly.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and apply them to assembly and testing tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Experience verifying mechanical functionality of subassemblies and systems.
- Ability to test for electrical continuity using a voltmeter and other basic test equipment.
- Capability to lift and regularly handle up to 40–50 pounds during assembly and material handling tasks.
- Comfort with performing repetitive tasks and sitting or standing for long periods while maintaining quality.
- Strong manual dexterity to assemble parts and pieces quickly and accurately.
- Ability to maintain accurate accounting of project materials and report discrepancies promptly.
- Experience with rework and repair of equipment and products to meet quality standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas and facts professionally to stakeholders.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large warehouse, production, and manufacturing facility with dedicated assembly workstations that are being further developed and improved. You will work at individual stations using hand and power tools to assemble mechanical and electromechanical systems, supported by fixtures, test equipment, and organized material handling areas. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with participation in workplace organization programs such as 5S. Work typically involves standing or sitting for extended periods, performing repetitive assembly tasks, and regularly lifting components up to approximately 40–50 pounds. Standard production attire suitable for a manufacturing floor is expected, with appropriate use of personal protective equipment when required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
