Structured Cabling Technician - New York

Field TechnicianVelocity is a fast-paced company with an open-door environment looking to add Field Technicians to join our team. Field Technicians work directly with Velocity support groups and customer locations to ensure job sites are completed to customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for the management and completion of installation, cabling, equipment maintenance, and resources at customer locations. The position is based out of your local area with an expectation of 95% travel.This job might be for you if you:Like to travelDon't mind heights, ladders, or confined spacesCan efficiently use basic tools and have basic construction skillsHave a customer service focus and can interact with others professionallyEnjoy problem solving and facing new challengesAre comfortable utilizing remote supportCan terminate/install/trace various forms of cable such as Cat5, Cat6, Coax, and other forms of cablingAre self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment to complete assigned tasks within the given timeDuties and Responsibilities:Install/service equipment at customer locations across USAble to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedulesEnsure the job site operates to Velocity and customer standardsEffectively and professionally communicate and interact with internal and external customers such as the status of the work order or other important informationTroubleshoot and diagnose managed devicesRepair, maintain, and install telecommunications infrastructureResponsible for managing helper technicians and ensuring they follow all established processesDisplay professional presentation at all times at customer sitesComplete and maintain administrative tasks/paperwork such as timesheets and expense reportsComplete additional tasks as requiredQualifications, Experience and Education:Minimum High School Diploma/GEDMinimum of 2 years steady work experienceAble to obtain certifications required for aerial liftsMust have valid drivers license and able to be insuredAble to repetitively push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds independentlyKnowledge of hand tools and power toolsMinimum of 2 years experience customer service preferredWillingness to travel 95% up to and including consecutive overnight staysPreferred candidates will have the following experience and education:2 years in installation, field services or similar backgroundMinimum 1-year low voltage experienceWhy you'll love working at Velocity:We are an energetic bunch — eager to succeed and have lots of company pride.
