Chief Financial Officer

Mammoth Hospital is seeking an experienced, hands‑on CFO to join our leadership team during an important period of system growth and operational modernization. This role is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, working closely with operations, and shaping the financial future of a dynamic rural health organization. What you'll do: Partner closely with clinical and operational leaders to understand organizational needs and ensure finance is fully embedded in day‑to‑day decision making. Support the hospital’s transition to a new financial and purchasing system, including helping managers learn new workflows and processes. Provide leadership in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, cost reporting, and overall fiscal management. Contribute to organization‑wide initiatives focused on quality, safety, standardization, and reducing waste. Participate in leadership or organizational improvement efforts, and long‑term financial planning. Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities to ensure responsible growth and stability. What you'll need: Required Minimum 5+ years of healthcare leadership experience (e.g., Controller, Director of Finance, CFO, VP Finance) Strong analytical and communication skills Ability to lead in a hands‑on, detail oriented environment Relocation to Mono or Inyo County Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field Preferred Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Audit experience, ideally with healthcare exposure Experience supporting financial system transitions or organizational change management Who will thrive in this role: A strong financial leader who enjoys being close to operations Comfortable navigating change and helping guide others through it Both detail oriented and able to see the bigger picture Energized by the opportunity to work in a small, collaborative hospital environment Motivated by mission, service, and improving rural patient care Excited about living in an outdoor oriented mountain community Job information: Full‑time, day shifts. Administrator on‑call required. Qualifications and experience requirements: B.A. or B.S. degree from a qualified college or university. Graduate degree with an emphasis in accounting or an active CPA credential. Three or more years experience as a Chief Financial Officer (or equivalent) of a hospital‑based healthcare institution required. Two or more years experience as the Chief Financial Officer of a small or rural hospital preferred. In‑depth technical knowledge of, and significant experience, with, third‑party reimbursement and rural health clinic operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills required. Flexible, mature individual capable of decision‑making and proactive problem identification and problem solving. Physical demands – ADM: Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel. Must have average hearing acuity and must be able to focus on objects up close and at a distance. Must have clear speaking voice. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing. Good manual dexterity is required. Must be able to wear protective devices such as gloves, gowns, and masks. Must be able to lift 20 pounds from the floor to the waist, and push at least 50 pounds (objects on wheels). Flexible finger and arm movement associated with typing and/or filing.
