Job Summary:

This critical care Respiratory Therapist (RT) position involves providing advanced ECMO support for both pediatric and adult patients in a high-acuity ICU setting. The RT will collaborate closely with ICU RNs and physicians, managing life-saving extracorporeal devices and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor ECMO devices, including Cardiohelp and CentriMag consoles, during bedside cannulation and cannula repositioning procedures.
  • Collaborate with the ICU team to implement ECMO orders and support complex respiratory and cardiac therapies.
  • Maintain proficiency in specialized equipment such as heater-cooler units and point-of-care glucometers.
  • Assist in patient assessments, troubleshoot ECMO devices, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Document all clinical interventions accurately in the EPIC Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Float between PICU and CVICU units as needed, providing consistent support across pediatric and adult populations.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist with current credentials and at least one year of ICU experience.
  • Successful completion of ECMO specialty device courses and required CMEs for proficiency.
  • Certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and SC RRT license.
  • Demonstrated experience with EPIC EMR and critical extracorporeal support management.
  • Ability to work night shifts (3x12 hours) and adapt to floating requirements.
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from Prisma facilities unless meeting specific distance exceptions.
