Software Development Specialist 3 (260003UB) Organization: Department of Children and Youth Work Location: Children & Youth N. High Complex, 246 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215 Schedule: Full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Compensation: $40.59 per hour (step 1; increases annually) Responsibilities In this role, you will work hands on across both Salesforce development and platform administration. Most days involve building and enhancing Salesforce applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, Visualforce, SOQL/SOSL, and OmniStudio tools such as FlexCards, OmniScripts, DataRaptors, and Integration Procedures. You’ll regularly use VS Code with Salesforce extensions and follow established coding standards, performing peer code reviews to ensure quality. A significant part of the job is designing technical solutions from business requirements, maintaining integrations with external systems (such as MuleSoft), and supporting production issues by troubleshooting and resolving defects. You’ll be responsible for unit testing, system testing coordination, debugging, and helping users through acceptance testing. ServiceNow is used to manage incidents, document activity, and track remediation. You’ll also follow DevOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, deployment automation, and release management, staying current with Salesforce releases and applying new features. On the administrative side, tasks include managing platform configurations, maintaining users and security settings, updating roles and permission sets, and performing sandbox refreshes as needed. Preferred Qualifications Salesforce Platform Developer I (PD‑I) certification; PDII is a plus. Experience with DevOps tools such as Gearset, Git, Copado. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Experience with Public Sector Solution Object model and Omnistudio Components. Pay Information Pay ranges from $40.59/hour to $56.84/hour and $84,427 to $118,227 annually, with step progression after 6 months and annually thereafter. Longevity supplements begin after 5 years.
