The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in Python development, machine learning, data engineering, and modern AI technologies. This individual will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build scalable data pipelines, develop intelligent applications, and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems. This is a hybrid position requiring the ability to work on‑site in Crystal City, VA or Fort Belvoir, VA as needed. Design, develop, and maintain AI‑enabled data solutions using Python and modern data engineering frameworks. Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data. Develop machine learning and generative AI applications to solve complex business problems. Design, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models into production environments. Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks into enterprise applications. Develop REST APIs and microservices to support AI and data platforms. Build scalable data processing workflows using cloud‑native technologies. Perform data cleansing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis. Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, DevSecOps teams, and business stakeholders to deliver AI solutions. Ensure solutions comply with federal security requirements and cybersecurity best practices. Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and implementation guidance. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on AI and data engineering initiatives. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field. Minimum 15 years of professional IT experience. Minimum 5 years of experience developing solutions using Python. Experience building enterprise data pipelines and data integration solutions. Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn. Experience developing Generative AI applications utilizing LLMs. Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Experience using Git and modern software development practices. Strong understanding of APIs, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
