For more information, please visit us at or check us out atLinkedIn.Mission:Manage in-house litigation and oversee outside litigationRole:The Senior Litigation Counsel will be a member of MGA Entertainment’s in-house Litigation Department, representing the company’s broad portfolio of toys, entertainment, and other consumer products, in matters around the world that raise interesting, challenging, and even issues of first impression in areas of intellectual property and entertainment. The Senior Litigation Counsel will be responsible for handling disputes, advising internal business clients, and litigating cases as counsel-of-record (both independently and under supervision of other in-house litigators) or in collaboration with outside counsel. The Senior Litigation Counsel will work on a wide range of matters, including general commercial disputes, intellectual property disputes (copyright, trademark, and patent), products liability, employment litigation, third-party subpoenas, and other matters.The Senior Litigation Counsel will report to the SVP, Global Head of Litigation, and will work closely with other senior in-house litigators and lawyers in other practice groups on a broad variety of litigation and risk management issues.Responsibilities:Analyzing claims and developing litigation and early case-resolution strategyConducting fact investigations and legal researchDrafting legal filings, including pleadings, law and motion briefs, and discoveryHandling or assisting with federal and state court proceedings (including court appearances), as well as arbitrations, mediations, and depositionsAdvising business clients and management regarding the strength of claims and defenses, dispute avoidance, and resolutionNegotiating and documenting dispute resolutionsResponding to third-party subpoenasManaging and working collaboratively with outside counsel, as neededIssuing and managing litigation holdsManaging and supervising e-discoveryPosition RequirementsEducation/Experience:Must have a JD from an accredited school of lawMust have a 4-year undergraduate degree10-12 years experience as a successful litigation attorney with extensive deposition and trial experience.Must be admitted to practice in CaliforniaSkills/Knowledge/Ability:Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsExperience and fluency with state and federal electronic court filing systemsWell organized, flexible, and multi-task orientedMust be a motivated self-starter who can work independentlyMust be able to exercise good judgment and make decisionsStrong, driven, and hard workingLitigation: Deposition and trial experience a mustSalary: $175,000 - $250,000 /year
