Senior Network Solution Engineer (Weekend Coverage)

The NVIDIA Experience (NVEX) Solutions Engineering team is looking for a senior Computer or Software Engineer who is ready to become an authority in ground-breaking network technology used in AI clusters. Our team of software engineers bridge the gap between the customer support teams and R&D, focusing on resolution of tough problems from the front lines and providing the highest level of support for InfiniBand, NVLink, and Spectrum-X network systems that interconnect GPUs and AI compute infrastructure.The level of work we do requires a software engineering background for deep code and logic analysis. It is also essential to have a proven grasp of in-field, production network operations and a history of collaborating closely with both customer engineering teams and internal R&D to triage and resolve major issues. Candidates must be very comfortable interacting with and relaying technical information to various groups ranging from R&D engineers, support groups, account teams, and executive-level management. The individual will interact daily with both internal and external customers, so superb interpersonal and communication skills are essential. SE team members also get to spend time working within R&D groups taking on feature development and bug fixes to directly enhance the products we support. The standard work schedule for this role is Wednesday through Sunday.What you will be doing:Assist various network and AI cluster support teams in reproducing, resolving, and root causing sophisticated customer issuesWork with NVIDIA R&D teams to rapidly develop bug fixes, workarounds, and solutions for customers using NVIDIA’s network technologiesWork directly with customer engineers on live triage of critical and high-profile issuesBecome an authority in NVIDIA Spectrum-X networking used in AI clustersDevelop support and analysis tools to help analyze and root cause field issuesDaily use of ground breaking AI tools for software development, log and trace analysis, and source code debuggingSpend a portion of time working directly within an R&D team developing core softwareOccasional work on holidays to support critical customersWhat we need to see:Candidates must have software development experience in the networking industry either for a network hardware manufacturer or software integratorCandidates must have experience working directly with customers and support groups to triage and resolve critical in-field, in-production networking problemsBachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering or related (or equivalent experience)5+ years of experience developing software (C, C++, Python, or Go)5+ years of experience directly supporting end-customers, partners, or integrators for network equipment and infrastructuresExperience analyzing, developing, and debugging at least 2 of the following: Linux NIC drivers, switch ASICs and SDKs, embedded network device firmware, Linux based network equipment (routers, switches, gateways, etc), network operating systemsExpert knowledge of Ethernet and IP routing down to the protocol’s byte levelAbility to analyze and learn evolving end-to-end systems flow, quickly learn how unfamiliar software layers are integrated, and be able to find logic bugs within an increasingly complex environmentPassion and motivation to isolate, root cause, and resolve high impact issues with executive visibilityYour base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
