About the Role and About You:

The King Air 350 Check Pilot (Check Airman) plays a critical leadership role within Flight Operations. This position is responsible for training, evaluating, mentoring, and standardizing King Air 350 pilots, while also serving as Pilot in Command (PIC) during line operations.

The Check Pilots supports the growth and development of Advanced Air pilots through flight training, proficiency checks, line checks, and operational oversight, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Flying assignments will support Advanced Air’s Essential Air Service (EAS) routes and on-demand charter operations.

This position reports directly to the Chief Pilot and works closely with the Director of Training and Director of Operations as required.

What You Will Do:

Check Pilot/ Training Responsibilities  

• Conduct initial, recurrent, upgrade, and remedial flight training for King Air 350 pilots. 
• Administer proficiency checks, line checks, and route checks as applicable under Part 135. 
• Evaluate pilot performance including systems knowledge, SOP compliance, CRM, and decision-making. 
• Provide professional debriefs and recommend corrective training when required. 
• Ensure standardization of procedures, callouts, checklists, and profiles. 
• Complete all training and evaluation documentation accurately and on time. 
• Mentors and provides feedback to Company Instructors in order to improve the effectiveness of the Advanced Air training program. 
• Support FAA observations, audits, and standardization initiatives. 

Pilot in Command Responsibilities  

• Retain final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft per FAR 91.3 
• Ensure aircraft airworthiness and completion of required inspections. 
• Maintain responsibility for aircraft security. 
• Review flight briefs including weather, NOTAMs, and operating procedures. 
• Comply with all FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, and company SOPS. 
• Update flight and duty records and reports maintenance discrepancies. 

Second in Command Responsibilities  

• Perform a visual Pre- and Post-Flight (walk-around) inspection prior and after each flight. 
• Assist the Pilot-in-Command during all phases of flight in accordance with operating P&P. 
• Assume primary responsibility for the safety of the passengers, crewmembers, cargo, and the aircraft should the pilot-in-command become incapacitated or unable to perform his/her duties. 
• Review thoroughly and brief the pilot-in-command specifically on all customer service items including, but not limited to passenger pick up, passenger drop off, communications requirements, and passenger catering. 
• Have primary operational responsibility for successfully completing the customer service portions of each leg as outlined in the P&P manual. 
• Comply with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company Policies and Procedures. 
• Updated flight and duty records, determine eligibility for the next flight assignment and ensure any aircraft maintenance discrepancies are reported to the Captain and reported in accordance with operating policy and procedure. 
• Participate proactively in safety and quality systems by identifying, reporting, and mitigating hazards and quality issues. 
• Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the pilot-in-command. 

Safety & Leadership  

• Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) 
• Promote a strong safety culture leadership and example.

Requirements:

What We Are Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED 
• CFI, CFII, MEI Certificates, Preferred, but no required. 
• Digital dexterity for aircraft preflight and post-flight
• 1,000 hours total time 
• 500 PIC 
• 250 cross-country 
• 100 Night 
• 75 Instrument (50 actual) 
• 50 Multi-engine
• High-level working knowledge of FAR 91, 61 and AIM Part Sections 4 & 5 
• Ability to work in confined spaces and to manipulate, push, pull, and lift heavy objects in excess of 150 lbs. 
• Ability to climb onto and off of an airplane wing as part of the preflight, post-flight, or during an over wing emergency exit. 
• Ability to execute flights of up to 4.5 hours up to a total flight time of 10 hours per day during a 14-hour duty period. 
• Operate as an SIC and Company Ground Instructor till ready for PIC Upgrade 
• Operate as PIC and Flight Instructor till ready for Check Pilot Duties 
• Operate as PIC and Check Pilot 

What you Can Expect:  

• Instructor Pilot Base Pay $65,000 
• Check Pilot Base Pay $115,00 to $178,546 
• Pilot Year 1 Average Gross Compensation $117,500.00 
• Pilot Year 2 Average Gross Compensation $136,000.00 
• Pilot Year 3 Average Gross Compensation $150,000.00 
• Pilot Year 4 Average Gross Compensation $172,000.00 
• Flight crews can expect to average 65 flight hours a month. 

Flight crews average 15 flying days a month and 8 to 12 nights away from base as the schedule allows. Pilots bid days off, based on seniority, 14 days in advanced, which will generate a schedule of 10 meaningful hard days off a month. There are 13 schedule periods in a calendar year. Days that are listed as “On” flight crews will be available to work for Advanced Air. Days that do not have assigned flying will have a set On Call period to them. On Call periods will require flight crew to be within approximate two hours of the airport and in a fit to fly state. Days Off, the pilot will not be expected to be available for Advanced Air.
